The scandals concerning sexual abuse by Catholic priests are the evidence that „the devil is active“says the main exorcist at the Holy See.

The priest Gabriel Amorth ( 85 ) who´s been the principal exorcist in Vatican for 25 years, has dealt with 70000 cases of possesion claims that as a consequence of devil´s influence in Vatican there are struggles for power, „cardinals who don´t believe in Jesus and bishops who abandoned themselves to devil.When we talk about Satan´s smoke inside santuaries  it´s all true – including the newest cases of violation and paedophilia.“

 

Amorth claims that one of devil´s work was the hush-up of death of Aloise Estermann in 1998 the then commander of Suisse guard, his wife and corporal Cedrick Torney,all of whom had been shot.The hurried investigation at that time drew a conclusion in Vatican that Torney shot his commander and wife and then himself because he hadn´t been decorated.However, there was a rumour going around that an unknown fourth person had been involved in this case.

The father Amorth just published his Memories of Exorcist.He says in it that the assassination attempt on John Paul II.´s life was also the attack of devil as well as the event at last Chrismas when a mentally ill woman pounced on the Pope at the beginning of Chrismas midnight mass and she knocked him down.

 

Amorth told the daily La Reppublica that the devil is “a pure spirit, it is invisible.But he manifests itself by blaspheming and struck the persons that are possessed by it.He´s able to hide, speak various tongues,alter or be attractive.It sometimes pulls my leg.“

Amorth stated that he hopes that sooner or later every diocesis will have its own exorcist.

According to the ecclesiastical canon law every priest can drive out the devil but in practise only those priest who´ve gone through the special training cast out the devil.

 

Amorth supposes that Hitler and Stalin were possessed by the devil.He was one of the officials in Vatican who warned that books from J.K.Rowling about Harry Potter „makes a false distinction between black and white magic“.

 

In 2001 Amorth protested against introducing a new version of ritual for exorcists.He complained that the new ritual that replaced century old prayers is „a blunt sword“and that nobody raised this matter in advance with the exorcists.Later on Vatican mentioned that the exorcists can carry on using the old prayers.
